ESCAPED PRISONER
RECAPTURED IN CHRISTCHURCH,

Charles Henry Augustus (Tones, the prisoner' who escaped from Paparua on Bth October, was recaptured late last night in Oxford terrace, by a party of detectives. He was alined with a revolver. Jones was seen coming from a slot telephone by Detective Thompson, who Was accompanied by Detectives Knudson Mayne and Beeeroft. Jones recognised Detective Thompson, and immediately made an effort to get away. He had sprinted about fifty ynrds when he was tripped by Detective Mayne. Jones appeared in Court this morning, and was remanded till 18th November. The police stated that numerous charges will ■be made against him.
