M^r. A. B. Sievwright said that_ as thp unsuccessful candidate for Wellingtou South, he desired first of ■ all, to congratulate his opponent upon his vie tory. He thanked (his committee and thope' who had voted for him. The campaign had been a strenuous one, and he thought al! would agree that It had bten maintained on a high level. Personalities hud been kept entirely out ot the campaign. He was not dismayed by the result. On a future occasion, he hoped to come before his fellow-citizens and receive' their approval as a candidate for Parliamentary honours, (Applause.) He called for'three cheers for his successful opponent,- which were heartily given. "»
