THE NATIONALISTS
AVHAT MR. VEITCH SAYS.
(81 I'ELEGIUPH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION.)
WANGANUI, This Day
Interviewed this morning regarding the election results, Mr. W. A. Veitch, organiser for tho Natioual Party, said the Nationalists set out with tho highest possible ideals— reducing the evils of party strife, establishing a party that would raiseParliament to become a national conference. "But party dies hard. The difficulties proved much too great. The long illness of our leader, Mr. "VVilford, tho shortage of time and funds, and the splitting of votes made success quite impossible. From the beginning tho want of funds prevented us from taking the platforms in reply to Ministers, whoTlid a vast amount of travelling. Mr. Coates has had a great win, and I for one congratulato him on his success at the polls. He now has a great opportunity; the length of his term of office as Prime Minister will depend entirely on his policy administration."
