FINAL LABOUR RALLY

BIG MEETING IN TOWN HALL

A final Labour rally was held in the Town Hall last evening,, when the candidates for the Wellington seats delivered addresses to a .very large audience. The chairman (Mr. J. Thorn) read messages of goodwill to Labour's cause from the Labour Parties in Great Britain and Australia, from the Labour Prime Ministers of Tasmania and Queensland, the Leader of the party in New Zealand (Mr. H. E. Holland), and others. Addresses wore delivered by the five local "candidates, Messrs.. ,X.. M'Keen '{Wellington' Squill).' A. 'L. Mon.teith (Wellington East), P. J'Vaser (Wellington Central), H. E. Combs (Wellington North), and C. 11. Chapman (Wellington Suburbs). At the request i^f Mr. Fr.-iser, a big majority of the audience held up their hands in promise to work for the return of Labour candidates to-day. The speakers were given a very cordial reception, and at- the conclusion of the meeting a resolution expressing appreciation of the fight put up by the Labour candidates and of confidence in the Labour Party as a fit and proper party to govern the country, moved by Mrs.. Gault and seconded by Mr. M. Walsh, was carried with only three dissentients. Cheers were- given for the candidates and the Labour Party's cause ... . '. *
