BOXING

EDDIE PARKER KNOCKED OUT

SYDNEY, 25th October.

At the Stadium, Tiger Payne, an American coloured fighter, knocked out Eddie Parker (New Zealand) in the thirteenth round. The going was hard and willing. Parker forced the fighting, and at close quarters had a decided advantage, but Payne used his right to great advantage, and sent the New Zealand champion to the floor three times. Parker, in the last three rounds, appeared to have his opponent beaten. Then a heavy swing downed him,*and when ho roso he was downed again, and he was stilJ on the floor when the bell rang.

After the fight a doctor had to attend to both boxers. Parker received four stitchca in wounds in his scalp and his left eye, and Payne two stitches in his right eye. *
