THE DRUSE ATTACK
FRENCH TROOPS EVACUATE SEVERAL PLACES. ' (ONITED MESS ASSOCIATION—COPXRIGHT.) (PUBLISHED IN THE TtHSS.) JERUSALEM, 26th August. Following, a heavy engagement in which the Druse tribesmen forced the French to evacuate Khirbetel and Ghazali, north of Damascus, there was another heavy engagement last night. A French column, advancing south-east to Ezra, was compelled to evacuate strong positions, "the Druses following the retiring French. • The latter's losses were heavy. An armoured car and an aeroplane were destroyed.
