(BI tELEQRAPH,—PRESS ASSOCIATION.)
HAMILTON, This Day. Being suspicious that the amount of current paid for by Charlie Fong, a Chinese laundryman in a large way of business, did not represent the full consumption, the . borough inspector installed check meters. These, over a period of two mouths, showed a considerable disparity with Fong's meter. A surprise visit to the premises revealed'that the current was being diverted from the meter by temporary wires. At the Police Court Fong was fined the maximum of £20 and costs, the Magistrate remarking that there were no mitigating circumstances.
