CROSS-COUNTRY
VISITING ATHLETES TRAINING.
Members of the visiting New South Wales and Victorian cross-country teams are training assiduously for the Australian and New Zealand championship to bo held over a course at Hutt Park on Saturday of next week. H. Hayden, of the New South Wales team, is still suffering from the effects of a sprain, but hopes to be ready for the championship, All the visitors are endeavouring to accustom themselves to local conditions of cross-country running, which differ somewhat from those in Australia, and the present holders of the championship— New South Wales—are confident of putting up a fine performance in the effort to retain the title. The visitors are to take part in the Dome Cup contest at Hutt Park tomorrow. Both visiting teams are being accorded a civic reception by the Mayor (Mr. C. B.- Norwood) in the Town Hal], "at 5 o'clock this evening.
