Fusion and political matters generally wero discussed at a fairly well-attended meeting.here last evening, addressed by the Hon. J. A. Hanan and Mr. 11. Atmore. Tho Mayor (Mr. Pacey) presided. There were frequent interjections, the meeting becoming rather lively towards the close. . .
A motion was proposed to the effect, that, in the opinion of the meeting, it was imperatively necessary that a strong, stable National Government be' formed before the elections, . and by* so ministering to the true needs of the people, arrest, threatened trouble and the breakdown of representative Government.
An amendment was proposed that the present Liberal or National Party be wound up,' and advising supporters of that party to link up with the Reform Party. On a show of hands the amendment was lost and the motion was carried.
