KARITANE APPEAL
TWO COMING ATTRACTIONS.
On Saturday, Bth August, a musical *vent of considerable interest will take place in the Tow.n Hall, in the shape of a performance of the concert version of Edward German's popular light opera, "Merrie England." Many compositions by German are generally familiar, including several extracts from "Merrie England," and the opera itself will be found well worth hearing. The performance will be given by the Terrace Congregational Choir, which is wider the conductorship of Mr. Len Barnes. Mr. Barnes is controlling the production, and in this respect his large experience in operatic work during his training abroad may be expected to produce highly satisfactory results The cTioir will consist of forty-five voices, and able soloists have been selected for the character parts. -
On 23rd September the 1925 'Movie 801 l will be held, also in the Town Hall. Every effort' is being made to make, this event eclipse that of last year, and the ball will no doubt rank as one of the .most . memorablo and' pleasant func-"-tio'iis/.Mjf.lhe' kind, this .season. ."
Both these events will be "benefits" in aid of the Karitane Hospital Appeal Fund,.so that those who patronise them .will, besides obtaining entertainment, give valuable assistance to a most worthy cause.
