Sir R. Home, in the preface to Mr. F. LV' M'Ddugall'* book* "Sheltered Markets," saya : "It must be realised that it is our Empire trade alone that saves vi from depression wowe than.the present. We. have arrived at' a. juncture when the problem for consideration is how we can best adjust our economic and commercial relations with our brethren overseas' in order to ■ save ourselves from the disastrous fata in which our present attitude of drift would certainly involve us, It would seem to be dictated by common-sense that we should give the populations of the Dominions what they stand in need of, which in turn would'iriorease the valuable market forour goods that we at present enjoy. This proposition involves an immediate policy of granting preference to the Dpminions."
