FRITZ KREISLER.
According to a private message this morning from Christchurch, there is tremendous enthusiasm in Bunedin and Christchurch regarding- Fritz Kreisler's visit. The "Otago Daily Times" and tho "Bunedin Star" each' devoted editorial attention to the great violinist, and the Christchurch papers are following suit. Dr. J. Plight, Professor of Economics and History at Canterbury College, had a letter jn the "Press" yesterday morning, in which he says: "Kreisler's concerts should be a powerful stimulus for many years to the progress of music here. He is now fully matured, not on the mere verge of manhood.- as so many of the artists who have visited us of 'late, and even those who remember the visits of P.cmenyi and Wilhelmj will agree that he easily stands supreme among violinists who have played here. I write this in order_ that lovers of music may realise the richness of their opportunity, and becausein these days "of commercialism and flamboyant advertisement, it is quite impossible for the great majority, removed so far as wo are from the music centres of the world, to discriminate between the very best and the moderately good." In an editorial article referring to Dr. flight's letter, the "Press" says: "Our readers will be grateful that Dr. Hi<*ht has directed their attention to an event which, in the case of those who are really musical, will be remembered for the rest of .their day." Booking in Christchurch is exceptionally heavy, quite exceeding all expectations. The box plans are now open in Wellington at The Bristol.
