TTVOLI AND ARTCRAFT THEATRES.
An emphatic success, far beyond the ordinary, was scored last evening at the Tivoli and Artcraft Theatres, when an unusually fine picture, with a fine story and exceptionally well acted entitled "The Truth About Women," was shown for the first time in Wellington. There were big attendances at both theatres. The. story, founded on fact, has an unusual trend. Hilda Carr is happily married- to a famous artist, and has a baby daughter. All goes well until another woman- fascinates Warren Carr. He neglects his family, and the upshot is that the once happy little, fireside is the centre of domestic unrest and misery. The parting sends Hilda and baby into seclusion. She meets another I «an a writer, who cheers her up just as her baby dies. He helps her take up I a professional career, and her beauty and. talent make her the talk of the town. She meets, her husband, who sees his wife in a "new light. However, a | new love has entered Hilda's life, and | she tells the novelist that she "will help him finish the story in which he had used her as his heroine. Lowell Sherman,^ who did so well in ".Way Down East," is,thoroughly., convincing as the ! vacillating artist,. and excellent acting is shown by Hopo Hampton, May Thurman, David Powell, Dainty Lee, a charmins child actress, and a lengthy cast. Choice supporting, films include a Gazette, a Review, a "Fable," and a comedy. At. the Tivoli Theatre, a vaui deville. offering is. -"Bailey's Posing Dogs,' an act which discloses clever and delightful posturing 3by the dogs and their trainers of. famous statuary. The dogs will appear in conjunction with the pictures twice daily—at 2.30 and 8 o'clock. Box plans are at The Bristol.
