MOTOR ACCIDENT
WOMAN SERIOUSLY INJURES; A serious .motor-cycle accident happened early last evening j as the result of which Mrs. Annie Champion, .aged. 48, of Otaki, and a young man," liynn Thetford, aged.,26, who resides at 31, Bridge str.eefc, Kilbirnie, are at presciit in hospital. Owing, to the fact .that neither of the injured has been able td give an, accoii'nt of the accident, trie 'police are hot, yet in possession of full details of the happening- but it appears that while proceeding along Kent terrace, in a southerly direction; about hairpast 8 o'clock last evening, Thetford, who had Mrs. Champion in, his sid&-car ; struck a verandah post near Vivian sireet while endeavouring to avoid a pedestrian. Mrs. Champion was admitted to the hospital suffering from injuries to her head, and this afternoon she was reported to be in a dangerous condition. Thetford was admitted suffering from shock, and, to-day it is .stated he is a little better.
