ELECTION RESULTS
TD THE EDITOR; Sir,—At the 'G'e'riMl Election in 1922 ■ a total of 634,700 valid ..votes was recorded; apportioned as fbllbw •■ Reform ■ 272,700.. Liberal 183,400, Labour 152,500, and. Independent 26,100. , It will 'generally be admitted that the exceptional; personality of the late Prime Minister contributed, in a large measure towards the ; number of votes cast for Reform candidates. Assessing such influence at ■ 25^ per ..cent.,. approxiriuitely, 68,000 votes, were obtained by. Reform which .will be difficult to retain by the new .leader, of the party. . With the transfer of half the latter votes each to Liberal and Labour, the position should prove ..most interesting at the ensiiiiig election, especially.when it,,is borne in mind that, in 1922 twelve .Reform .members /including three Ministers), polled only 5000 Votes over their closest opponents in as many electorates.—l am, etc., . , .■ . • A B 19th May: ;., ' . .
