SUGGESTED CARILLON
TO TUB EDITOR. Sir,—Saturday (Anzao Day) will be the tenth anniversary of the landing of our men at Gallipoli, and we in Wellington, the capital of the Dominion, possess no tangible acknowledgment to those who fell on that great and terrible day. Suggestions have been offered in several quarters that the Wellington Soldiers War Memorial shall take the form of a carillon tower, and 'I know of no more suitable idea for a symbolical memorial. I know I am not alone when i. say I •would very much appreciate the wonderful music of the bells on Anzac JJay and Armistice Day. What is there to prevent Wellington city being progressive whilst bein°- thoroughly sincere in its memory of those who have made ■ the supremo sacrifice? lor my part I will gladly give a further subscription to the memorial fund if necessary, in encouragement of a carillon tower of remembrance.—l am, etc., ' , , . CAMPANILE. 21st April.
