HOSPITAL FEES
PROPOSED INCREASE.
Speaking in the Ngaio Methodist Hall las. evening, Mr. C. H. Chapman stated he was contesting the Hospital Board and Harbour Board elections as well as the Mayoralty. He had that day received a circular letter notifying that a conference of hospital boards would be held in Auckland on 27th May. One of the proposals recommended by the provisional executive of the Hospital Boards' Association read as follows:— That hospital boards are recommended to raise their fees to at least los per diem, such fees to be reduced to those unable to pay the full fee; that the patient on entering the hospital should fill in an admission form embodying such scale, and will be told that any reduction in the fee will depend upon the yen- ■ Jj^'t-iou of the particulars given by In commenting upon this matter, Mr Chapman stated thirty-eight boards were members of the association, and there wo S,n g? ve langei;langei; tliat tho illcrease would be made unless Labour members wore elected to prevent the proposed in-
