PREMIER REGRETS ABOLITION
PREFERENCE PROMISED.
„,. _, SYDNEY, 16th December. The Premier, Sir George Fuller, stated in the Legislative Assembly that he regretted that the Shipping Labour Bureau was to disappear; but he would see that preference under the Act was granted to returned sailor and soldier wharf labourers.
The secretary of the Returned Sailor and Soldier Wharf Labourers' Union stated that legal proceedings would be taken against the companies that refused to give preference to bureau members. Members of the Shipping Labour Bureau decided to send a. deputation to the Cabinet to ask for an assurance that the Government will stand behind them in their fight for the retention, of preference on the waterfront.
