SHORTAGE OF WATER
Leraud Street " writes, complaining of tho shortage of water. "I may state," says tho correspondent, " that since the beginning of January last Leraud street has been without any water in its main on en average of one day every week, and very often, two days in the week with the water entirely off for the consumers for the time being. As every Monday seems to be the worst day in; that respect, I expect his Worship the Mayor will say that the shortage is accounted for by the fact that it is washing day for all the householders, but what about the fire and drainage risk that is going on every week? The farce of the whole position is that as ratepayers during the past two years we have been called on to pay double the amount of water rate, and have had less water for our consumption during tho period, so far as Leraud street is concerned, and Heaven only knows how many other streets aro affected in the same manner."
