A "MORAL WAVE"

(Received 29th October, noon.) • OTTAWA, 28th October. , A "moral wave" is sweeping Montreal, as the result of the investigations which culminated last week in the quadruple hanging. Civic reformers aro seeking the head of the Chief of Police, Mr. Belanger,, who will spend an uneasy forenoon in the witness box before Judge Coderre, who is conducting tho inquiry. Belanger admitted borrowing sums ranging from £100 to £500 from the relatives of police detectives whom he promoted. I Belanger admitted that he went into | sporting resorts for amusement, the 'sume as any other private citizen, but the Court declared that it was impossible to | distinguish between Belanger the chiof and Belanger the privato citizen.,
