MIRAMAR RANGERS FOOTBALL CLUB
The seventeenth annual dance and euchre party of the Miramar Rangers Football Club was held in Welgasco Hall, Miramar, kindly lent for the occasion, and for the benefit of the club, by the Gas Company. Advantage was taken on ths occasion to present the medals won by the players in their respective grades, but in speaking before the presentations, Mr. H. Power (president) stressed the point that Miramar and Seatoun district was the home of Association football The round ball was first introduced to the boys of the district by the Rangers Football Club in 1907, ■ and at the preserit time there are about twenty teams playing the game. This year no less than thirteen competitions were won by the Rangers and Seatoun Clubs, the latter winning ten, including the championship of Wellington. The Bangers' sixth division team won the championship, going, through without a defeat, and scoring' 50 goals in twelve games played, and no goals registered against them. Goals 40-0 against. They also won the Charity Cup. This team of boys under 14 years won the 7th A grade championship and Charity Cup last year «omg through without a defeat. After supper medals were presented to the followjng:—Bth Grade: A. Gollop and F £ aee£. Mr. Power's medals ; 7th grade: W Hicks, and F. Perry, Mr. Coltman's medals; 6th grade: each member received a medal from their coach; sth B gradeG. Brittain, Mr. A. James's medal; sth ad 9:/, ggad 9:/£ ad 9:- I'? onald. dub's medal; sth B grade: H. Murphy, club's medal;
4th B' grade: W. Martin, Mr. S. O'Brien's medal; 4th B grade: R. James, Mrs. O'Brien's medal. Special votes of thanks were passed to the officers of the club for their -financial support; to Mrs. M'Keeii for the donation of the prizes for the euchre competitions; to the Xadies' Committee for their valuable assistance and interest taken in the club; and to Mr. S. O'Brien and Mr. A. James for services rendered to the club as captain and secretary respectively ; also to the Wellington Gas Company. Cheers were given at the end of a most enjoyable evening.
