CHRISTCHURCH, Ist October.

Prices at Addington .market to-day were very firm, with an advance in all the principal sections of stock. Particularly was this the case in the fat cattle section, the advance, howsver, being largely due in this case to smaller entries. 'Store 'sheep firmed up as a consequence of the'good rains of the weekend, ewes and lanibs being several shillings per head better.

Spring Lambs.—lo2 penned. There was a good sale from 28s to 35s Bd. ''

Store Sheep.—There was a ' small entry, and a particularly spirited-sale, there being an all-round improvement in values. A pen of well-woolled first cross sound-mouthed ewes, with 150 per cent, of lambs, sold at 32s 2d, all counted. Values ail round were up by several shillings per head, as a result of the break in the dry weather. Exceptionally good half-bred ewes, with lanibs, 32s 2d, all counted,- good sound-mouthed crossbred ewes with lambs' 275, good, aged .ewe's with forward lambs. 26s 3d, fair aged ewes and lambs 20s to 225, low-conditioned inferior aged ewes and lambs 16s 6d to 19s Bd, good three-quarter-bred ewe hoggets 365, 375, crossbred mixed sexed hoggets 325-6 d. forward three-quarter-bred wether hog-, gets 36s 4d, short four, six-toothed halfbred wethers 27s 7d to 28s, four and'six-: toothed halfbred wethers 36s to 37s 7d.

Fat Sheep.—There was a slightly larger yarding, and very firm sale. On aii average values Ayere up on ■ last week 2s per head. Extra prime'wethers 60s to 665, prime 52s 6d to 57s 6d, medium 48s 6d to -51s 6d, light 41s to 46s 6d, extra prime ewe's -57s lOd, prime 46s 6d to 51s, medium 42s 6d to 46s 6d, light 37s 6d to 41s 6d, aged 42s 6d to 36s 6d. .

Fat Cattle.—The smallest entry of the season came forward, comprising 320 head, of which a small consignment came from the North Island, and. another from the coast. -Values werc fc up,by 5s per 1001b; and in some cases vup to 52s 6d for 1001b was realised. Prime mcd-! ium-weights made 44s to 48s per 1001b, prime heavy-weights 42s to 465, ordinary medium-weights 41s to 435, light 36s to 40s, and rough down to 255.' Extra prime heavy-weight bullocks £19 10s to: £20 15s, prime steers £17 10s to £19 ss, medium £15 to £17 ss, light £12 15s to £14 15s>. rough £8 10s to £12, extra prime heifers £14 5s to £15 10s. A fewspecial £16 to '£18 15s, prime £12 to £14, ordinary £8 10s to £11 10s, extra prime cows £14 to £16 7s 6d, prime £11----5s to £13 15s, medium £9 ta £11, aged £5 to £8..

Vealers.—There was a small entry, and good demand, with prices in advance of last week. Runners £7 10s, good veal-; ers £4 10s to £6,' good calves £2 10s to £4 ss, small calves 12s 6d to 355.

Store Cattle.—A small entry came forward, mostly cows and heifers, and_ there was an average demand. Best cows and heifers £2 to £4, medium £1 5s to £1 15s, inferior 15s to 20s. -

Dairy Cattle.—There was a slack demand in the opening stages with an improvement later. Best heifers £8 to £i 0 10s, third and fourth calvers £8 to £9 10s, medium heifers £5 to £7.105.

Fat, Pigs.—A medium entry, but the market was scarcely so good as last week. Choppers £3 10s to £6, light baconors £4 10s to £5 ss, heavy £5 10s to £6 (average price per lb 8d to 9d). Light porkers £2 10s to £2 15s,'heavy £3 to £3 14s (average price per lb 8d to B£d). Store Pigs.—A large entry and* exceptionally keen demand. Weaners 26s to 325, small stores 32s 'to 40s, medium 45s to 50s, large 55s to 635, sows in pig £5 10s to £5 17s 6d.
