THE GAMING BILL
A Committee of the House of Representatives is to be set up, to take evi-. dence on the Gaming Amendment Bill. Mr. L. M. Isitt (Christchurch. North} asked the Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon. R. F. Bollard)^in; the House, of Representatives yesterday whether he would so arrange the order of reference that the economic and moral aspect of the question could be considered.
"The purpose of the Committee is to deal with the Bill that is before the House, not with the gaming laws," replied the Minister.
Mr. G. Witty (Riccarton) asked if he could address a question to the Minister on the subject, and the necessary permission was given. Mr. Witty said he had asked whether the whole question of racing would be, gone into, and had received- an-answer in the affirmative.
"That is not a question," remarked Mi-. Speaker, amidst laughter. "Is it correct?" inquired Mr. Witty. The Minister made no reply. ' :' '.'
