POST OFFICE ROBBED

BURGLARS DISTURBED BY ALARM

CLOCK.

(BI TELBOIUPB—WtESS ASSOCIATION.)

CHRISTCHURCH, 30th Sept. In the early hours of this morning the post office ajid store at Waddington were entered by burglars, and money to Uio amount of £200 was stolen. Not much information is at present available, but it is known that the money was hi notes, cash, and cheques. The store is owned by Mr. E. E. Booth, who also conducts the post office. Apparently the crime was committed at about half-past four in the morning, as an alarm clock which was set for that timo had just gono off when the residents, who were awakened, heard suspicious movements in the store. When investigation was made it was found that the money was missing. It was too dark, however, to see far outside, and nobody could be detected in the gloom. Tho alarm clock apparently frightened the intruders, otherwise, possibly a much bigger haul would have been made. Waddington is a, small township about thirtyeight miles west of Christchurch, and ia not far from Sheffield, on the Midland lino.
