DE VALERA ARRESTED
A SINGLE TICKET TO DUBLIN
ULSTER GOVERNMENT'S ULTIMATUM.
(UKUED PRESS ASSOCIATION.—COPIBIGBT.) (RECITER'S TELEGRAM.) LONDON, 25th October. The Republican leader, Mr. de Valera, was arrested in the vestibule of the Town, Hall at Newry, Ulster, in the act of entering to speak in support of the Republican candidate, and in defiance of the Ulster authorities. The arrest was the sequel to a watch all day by contingents- of constabulary armed with revolvers, rifles, bayonets and truncheons, who guarded every possible approach to the town, in view of Mr. de Valera's announced intention to speak. ' Mr. de_ Valera spent the night under a guard in the Newry police barracks, and was escorted to the frontier this morning and released, being given a railway ticket to Dublin. (Received 27th October, noon.) LONDON, 26th October. <( The Belfast correspondent of the Observer" says that in accordance with the Ulster Government's instructions de Valera was escorted over the border and released, after having given assurances that he would go southwards quietly. De Valera boarded the train! for Dublin without incident.
