CRIMINALS EXECUTED

(UNITED PRBSS A3SOCIATIOS.—COPIIUQHT.) (AUSTRALIAN-NEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.) OTTAWA, 24th October. Four desperadoes were hanged at Montreal at daybreak to-day. There were originally six, but two of them had their sentences commuted lo life imprisonment. Unprecedented precautions were taken owing to threatened attempts at rescue. Scores of police guarded the gaol, inside and out, throughout the night. The executions were carried out at dawn. The executions aroused enormous interest, and hundreds of morbid people collected outside the gaol.
