SYDNEY FERRY TRAGEDY
THE CORONER'S VERDICT.

At the Coroner's inquest on the victims of the ferry accident, in which: the ferry steamer Kareela rammed a jetty,and; four, people on board - were killed, a verdict of accidental death was merely recorded, in .view of the fact that a Marine Court, inquiry is pending. The evidence was'very conflicting. According to the, captain, when lie found' the steering gear jammed he gave the order full speed astern. The engineer gaye evidence that Jhe order was immediately acted on, but came too late. The crash occurred three-seconds later.
