WESTERLY DISTURBANCE
A westerly disturbance has made its. appearance, and reports "received by the ?Mr Ci£ Pf p ¥ \M^°^sml: Office (Mr D: C. Bates) this morning showed fSxr S'? 1? 3: were prevalent, southward of>Hokitika and Lyttelton.' The barometric gradient was very high-between Wellington and Bluff. Strong northerly t:i -westerly winds had ruled about Cook Strait, and farther.,' north, the .winds were more variable. Rain -ivas reported from several places on the West Coast: Ihe forecast is for variable-and strong winds, northerlies. increasing northward oE Napier and New Plymouth, and westerlies, strong to gale and likely to back to southerlies after about twenty-four hours, elsewhere.
