FAIR WEATHER—VARIABLE BREEZES
Although cold, the weather lias continued fair generally, and there is little likelihood of any change- in the immediate future. Questioned regarding the reports of-severe seas along the East Coast, the Director of the Meteorological. Office (Mr. D. C. Bates) stated to-day that he had had no advices, except to say that the seas were rough. The storm, or rather the edge of it, which hail been felt near the coast, had passed by. Of the approach of bad weather, Mr. Dates slated that the worst often came by • way of the Kerniadees, and pointed'- out "that a reporting station in that locality would be ol great value. Present weather conditions over the Dominion' were fair, arid variable breezes .were likely,, northerlies in the southern districts and easterlies to nortlierlies elsewhere. Last night was "cold, five degrees of frost beim* registered locally, and ..another cold night was \.robable, with frosts inland and hard frosts in the South. This morning's reports showed tho barometer to be very high, the reading, at Wai ngaiiui being 30.70 degrees. •Southerly and easterly winds had prevailed.
