VAQUIER'S SENTENCE

Mr. Ben Turner (a Labour member of the House of Commons) writing- to the ''Daily.Herald," says: "The do°ubts and dangers surrounding the case make me urge the Home Secretary not to hang "Vaquier." The "Daily Herald," in supporting the appeal, affirms that in the neighbourhood where the crime was committed there is a widespread belief that all the facts have not been disclosed, and emphasises the Frenchman's disadvantage in defence, owing to his ignorance of the language.
Vaquier was sentenced to death for the murder of Albert Jones, the Byfleet hotelkee'per.
