HUTT OUTCLASSES MARIST.

Making their initial appearance at Athletic Park, the Hutt seniors easily defeated the more experienced Marist, team by 13 points to 3. The members of the suburban fifteen seemed toibe in splendid physical condition, and they maintained a strong attack throughout the whole game, the Hutt'forwards dominating the play for the major portion of the match. The victory of the wearers of the red jersey seemed to bo as popular as it was well deserved. The wind was blowing- in light gusts from the south, and gave neither side it, distinct advantage. Marist kicked off, but Hutt immediately commenced lo force the play, and were soon within the opposing twenty-five. Several scrums and line-outs followed, but, despite desperate efforts, Marist were unable to clear. Hutt secured possession from a scrum close up to the goal, and Burt, taking a good pass, scored near the right corner hag. Cudby's kick failed. Hutt 3. Marist 0. The Greens worked hard' and transferred the scene of activity. to Hutfc's territory, where Marist were awarded several penalty kicks. Mlurphy was unable to send the ball over the cross bar. Several good passing rushes again improved Hutt's position, and R. Hiekiing, breaking away, crossed the line. The kick at goal was not successful. Hutt 6, Marist 0. -Hurrell made a good lone-handed dribbling rush, and a few minutes later the Hutt backs began to pass prettily, but Murphy stopped the advance, and then cleared with a good kick. There were no further scores.before the interval.
