PALMERSION N., 22nd June. A. W. Park, a single man, 23 years of age, lost his life in the Manawatu River .it Karere on Saturday. Deceased was foreman of a party employed by the Manawatu-Orua Power Board in getting wire across the river, when a boat, containing Park and a companion overturned, and, despite tho efforts of his companions, Park was washed down stream. A search party, numbering 25, was engaged to-day in dragging" t"h4 river, but so far without success. Great praise has been bestowed by the board's engineer on an employee named Steer,.who made gallant efforts to save his companion. This is the third accident to members of the gang this week. T. Proctor, . who was injured earlier in the week, while unloading poles, still lies in hospital in a danger" ous condition. • • °
