ORIENTAL BEAT WELLINGTON.

That Oriental are an improved team was further shown on Saturday, when they defeated the Wellington ' fifteen by 19 points to 12 at Newtown Park.

Although Wellington had the advantage of the wind in the first spell, the Oriental team played up to such purpose that the Yellow aiid Blacks had a lead of only six points at .half-time. Oriental, played, a good game, and thoroughly deserved their win, although for.a long time in the second, half Wellington defended soundly and kept a lead. Once they got the lead, however, Oriental piled .up the points, and won quite easily.

Outstanding players were Pi-ingle, Chambers, and K. Smith for Oriental, and Joyce, Johnson, Morgan, arid Glenn:e for Wellington. ' Oriental attacked immediately, and Brown got across, but a force-down was awarded. 'Hie .Yellow and Blacks then carried play down, and from ■ a penalty kick Ambler opened Wellington's score, 3-0. Oriental were playing well against the string southerly, and from one rush P.. Hepburn scored. King missed with his kick. ' 3-3. Just on half-time Ambler kicked his third penalty, and Wellington led, 9-3. Simmons had been injiued, and Gillies replaced him. H. B. Smith scored straight away, and King converted. 9-8. Wellington defended strongly for a long time] and Glennie nearjy scored once, but Oriental finally added three tries in quick succession. The scorers were Evans (2) and K.
