HUTT'S FIRST VICTORY.
Hutt, by defeating Selwyn on Saturday, by. 11 points to nil, secured' their first victory of the season. The game throughout was /fast and willing, so willing in fact, that several players were injured at different times, and had to leave the field. In the earlier stages both teams were very much lacking'in combination, but towards the end,, the Hutt men began to work together more than they, had previously. At the end of the first spell, Hutt had'a lead of 3 points to nil as' the result of a try scored by Hurrell. Mackintosh scored in the second spell, and Cudby goaled. Hutt 8, Selwyn 0. M'Kay cleverly made an opening, and then threw out the bill to Hickling, who made a good run and scored. No further points, were added as the result of the kick. Selwyn were obliged to defend until the end of the game.. The final scores were: Hutt 11. Selwyn 0. Mr. Corson controlled the game.
