.A cable message, has been received stating that the first Australian and New Zealand Retail Booksellers' Conference opened .yesterday at Sydney.- A civic reception was tendered to the delegates, who are representative of all the Australian States..-' New/Zealand's delegates are Messrs. H. C.' South, Wellington, and G. H. Bennett, Palmerston North.
