POLAR FLIGHT
THREE SEAPLANES TO BE USED',

■ .-■■-■.-' ROME, Bth May. Amundsen and, all his companions will fly three seaplanes in June, from Pisa to Spitzbergen. The., seaplanes are constructed of a now alloy, which is not affected by long immersion in the sea, and is able to withstand:the severe buffeting of waves. The aviators will practice for a month at Spitzbergen, arid will then set out over the Pole for Alaska, a distance of 1750 miles, which is beyond a single machine's capacity without refuelling.. Each machine will carry sufficient petrol for sixteen hours' flight, and all will descend after four hours. One'then transfers its petrol to the others, leaving- sufficient, to return to Spitzbergen. The two others will then continue northwards and descend again after: eight hours. One will then be abandoned, transferring the fuel to the remaining machine, and, with four men aboard, will attempt to reach Alaska in ten hours' flight..
