UPPER HUTT

The annual meeting-of parishioners of the' Church of England,1 Upper Hutt, was held in St. Hilda's Sunday schoolroom, Upper Hutt, on Wednesday. The vicar, the Rev. N. S. Barnett, presided. There was a' fair attendance. The chairman reviewed the work of the past year, and specially noted that the attendance at Holy Communion had increased by 20 per cent. The balancs-sheet and churchwardens' report showed that progress ■was being made in all departments. The vestry had reduced the mortgage on St. Hilda's Sunday schoolroom by £200, and closed the year with a credit balance of over £50 on this special1 account. The general account showed that the sum of £144 had been raised for purposes outside the parish, i.e., missions, etc. All current liabilities had been met, and the account closed with a credit balance of £46.

The following church officers were elected :—Vicar's churchwarden, Dr. F. W. Kemp; people's churchwarden, Mr. E. R. Seller; vestry, Messrs. A. Collins, R. Tompkins, G. Wade, H. W. Chapman, J. Wilson, E. Marryatt, A. J. Dry, C. R. Terry, J. Jackson, and N. Prouse; auditor, Mr. H. E. Lodge. Supper was provided by the ladies.
