HIDDEN STORAGE IN A PIANO.

. MASTERTON,:2nd May. . In the Magistrate's^ Court to-day Ivy Pritchard, wife of Thomas Pritchard, horse; trainer and taxi-driver, pleaded guilty to selling, liquor, and was fined £50. Defendant also pleaded guilty to keeping liquor for sale. Thomas- Pritchard, who was jointly charged, on the latter count, pleaded not guilty, defendants were fined £25 each.
The case was the outcome of. a. raid by the police, who found nine bottles of whisky .concealed in a piano iri Pritch-: ard's .house. In his defence, Pritchard maintained i that, his wife was carrying on the traffic unknown to him and contrary to his instructions. ■■■■■•-■■-
The Bench was disinclined to take this view, as the female defendant had been previously convicted and the police declared that defendants were the most notorious sly-groggers in the town.
