MITTEE,
The Management Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union met ■• last evening/ Mr. S. S. Dean presiding. Others present were: Messrs. E. "Wylie, E. Little, E. M'Kenzie, W. F. Hornig, C. L.' Mullany,' T. A. Fletcher,' A. C. Kitto, and H. E. Combs (secretary). .■' As Mr. A. Geddes, of Southland/was unable to view all the, trial matches, Mr. D. Stuart was appointed ,as a,South Island selector on the New Zealand Selection. Committee. . ,
Regarding the proposed tour to: New South Wales this season the opinion was expressed by the committee that as many as possible oi the players chosen for the English tour should make the trip to New South Wales. This opinion' is to be notified to all unions.
It was decided that a test book should be drawn up for use by the schools, and the matter was placed in the hands of a sub-committee.
Reinstatements were granted as follow: Charles Howie and Leslie R. Edie, of .Auckland; Harold B. Helsby and ■John Smith, of Henderson; Reginald Yaxley, of Kaiapoi; James D. Manihera, of Rapaki; and William Cowiey and G. B. Blackburn, of Kaiapoi.
A motion was passed that all unions be asked to forward a copy of their bylaws to the N.Z,R.TJ., and that they be asked to take steps to register under the Incorporated Societies Act.
CHARGES FOR TRIAL MATCHES.
The question of charges for the' matches being played for the purpose ot selecting the New Zealand team waa raised by the chairman, who stated that the suggestions by Wellington seemed, to be about right. In a couple of the matches he stated that some 60 or 70 players would be moving round, and that meant tremendous expense. He suggested that the' charges should be Is 6d admission to the ground" and 3s for ground and stand for the trial matches, and. 2s .admission to ground and 4s to ground'and stand for the North-South aud the -final PossiblesProbables match. The charges suggested -by. -the chairman were ' adopted, arid ifc'v was decided that children be admitted to' the grouna for 6d. ' : '-'■■•.
Season ticket-hslders are to be given the usual 48 hours' preferential booking.
PROTEST FROM OTAGO. Telegraphic advice was received from the Otago Rugby .' Union. as: follows: "This union protests emphatically against the elimination of the whole of last year's seloctioi) committee, and also objects to the geographical situation ot the selectors appointed to act this year.' The* chairman .(Mr. S. S. Dean): "l think the protest so far as Otago is concerned is belated. I think Otago have every reason to be well 'satisfied with the present position. They are only about'four days behind time with their protest."
Mr. A. C. Kitto: "They are always protesting." Mr. E. MTCenzie:- "They are always howling over something." The communication was received, the Otago Union to be acquainted with the latest pci.tion regarding the selectors.
