SCOTTISH REUNION

On Thursday evening, in their hall, 57, Cuba street, the Scottish Society and the Pipe. Band of Wellington, held a most enjoyable reunion of members. Representatives of the Shetland and the local and Hutt Valley. Caledonian Societies were specially invited. " The chief, Captain C. M'Arthur, in a few words of welcome, expressed his' pleasure at the large membership present, mentioning that it was only by holding such informal evenings that the Scots of Wellington could foregather and enjoy one another's company to the fullest. He later announced that, in order to keep the society's bairns interested, another such gathering would /be held shortly, when the programme • would consist of items by. members' children. The evening was then devoted to Scottish music and song, interspersed with exhibitions by the Highland dancers. At such gatherings all fantasies of the modern ballroom are strictly excluded, iv place o£ which the society intends to revive the old country dances. As a commencement, an exhibition of the ei^htsome reel, danced to the music of Mrs. Al Millan and Mr. M'Lennan, was given by two sets, and was one of the most popular items of the evening.
