WATERSIDE WORKERS' AWARD

Several interpretations of sections of tho award covering waterside workers were sought at the Arbitration Court to-day. Mr. Justice Frazer presided, and associated with him were Mr. W. Scott (representing the employers) and Mr. H. Hunter (representing the employees). Mr. W. H. G. Bennett appeared for the employers, and the Waterside Workers Federation was represented by Mr. L. Glover. The points in dispute were in connection with payment for intervening time at New Plymouth, payment for dis° charging cargo at New Plymouth from a hold where benzine was stored, working during meal hours at, Timaru, and whether the Court's decision of 27th March, 1923, as to payment for meal' hours applied to meal hours worked prior to that date. • • . •Decision was reserved in each case.
