A RUGBY MATTER

JURISTS AND CANTERBURY UNION.

Although there has been a fresh development in the situation, the healing of tlie breach, between tho Marist Bros. Football Club and the Canterbury Rugby Football Union seems as far off as ever. The trouble hinges upon a letter addressed by the Marist Bros.' Old Boys' Association—which embodies the club— to the union, which the Management Committee of the union considers impertinent. The, Management Committee insists that this letter be withdrawn and an apology given therelor. The development .referred 16- - (states the Christchureh "Sun") is that the committee of the association has again writ-, ten to the union. Its latest communication is said to outline the position as seen by the association and to be conciliatory in tone. But it does not amount to an actual apology or a withdrawal. This letter, it- is learned, was handed in to the union a few hours.before the annual meeting ins held. Apparently it was considered by the Management Committee, sitting in committee, before the annual meeting- of delegates. Tho absence later of the Marist Club delegates from the annual .meeting is significant. Obviously, the half-move made by the Marist Bros.'. Association ..had proved a "wash-out." .-' ' ■ '
