ALFORT WINS BIG EVENT.
AUCKLAND, 17th MaTch. The Ohinemuri races were continued at Paeroa to-day in fine weather; there was a large attendance. The totalisator handled £33,354 10s, making a grand total for the meeting of £64,067, compared with £57,401 10s last year. S. Tremaine, rider of Lady Arch in the Hikutaia Hack Handicap, broke a collarbone owing to the horse falling. Results :—1 Second Handicap Hurdles, of 200 soys ; one mile and three-quarters.—Tino-kaha, 11.2, 1; Explorer, 11.13. 2: Ditto, 9.9, 3. Also started : General Rose 10.4, Mahgoloire 9.5, Marble Slab 9.2, Lucullerit 9.0. Won by half a length. third horse a head back. Time, 3min 22 2-ssec. Hikutaia Hack Handicap, of 150 soys ; seven furlongs.—Lady Biddy, 8.4, 1; Archibald, 8.6, 2; Peter Rosa, 7.8. 3.
