NEW PLYMOUTH,-17th March. The Opunake races were held to-day in iine weather. The attendance was large and the course in good order. The totalisator handled £26,840, compared with £23,046 last year, an increase of £3794. Resuilts: — Handicap Hack Hurdles, of 150 soys; one mile and a half.—Tuki, 10.0 (H. Burt), 1; Country Life, 9.4, 2; Roman, 9.12, 3. Also started: Kaforte, Tarquin, 9.0; Polthogue, Lord Astolat, Tokomoana, Mountain Gold, 9.0. Won by a head. Time. 2min 52 2-ssec. President's Handicap, of 125 soys; six furlongs and a half.—lnterest, 7.0 (T. Tito) 1; Waiotama, 7.12 2; Lusylvia, 8.0, 3. Also started:. Miss Mickey, 7.9. Won by a head. Time, lmin 26sec.
