DIVINE DEMOCRACY
Mrs.-Eona Olsen gave the-lust of her series of lectures on Sunday at the Carltmi Hall upon the subject of "Divine Democracy," which she claimed was the right of man1 to work out his own salvation by freedom of spirit from this material existence on the physical plane. Ihe instinctive desire, for freedom of action is the chief determining force in human history; the storm and stress of the present age, with all its antagonisms of community life, is so clearly marked. There has nevertheless bcea a great energising of .the consciousness of the people, who are beginning to apprehend greater solidarity and the very essential unity necessary that underlies all surface differences. It is a potential freedom becoming actualised through struggle and confliction of the many human interests—the real freedom that mnn is for ever seeking is not primarily in free institutions or in anything external. The true source of liberty is art" inward, inherent fount of spiritual aspiration, the result of self-experiences, the unfolding of the soul-consciousness, union with ihe one great indivisible life. There can be no freedom until we are willing to forego personal desires for the benefit of others. Mrs. R. Olseh, who is a- New Zealander born, returns direct to America under engagement to deliver another series of lectures in the principal cities.
