Sir George Elliott, chairman of directors of the Bank of New Zealand, leaves by the Remuera on 22nd March, on a visit to England. Mr. R. R. Caws and Mr. H. Fr Titchener, of Morley Collieiiee, Limited are at present in Wellington and are - at the Royal Oak. - . Tho Hon. C. J. Parr (Minister of Education) left for the South Island by the Wainui to-day. He will be absent from Wellington for about ten days. "No public body has ever been blessed with a more- capable and conscientious servant," remarked the chairman of the Harbour Beard to-day in paying tribute to work of the ex-secretary to the board Mr. H. E. Nicholls. who recently retired. Mr. Mitchell also gave credit to the staff for its efficient work. The whole working of the port and the excellent results shown during tho war, ho said, was a reflection of the merits of the officers and their staffs and the wjiole of the board's employees. Smoothness of running, harmony, and efficiency had been outstanding features of the starf throughout tho year.
