NAVAL RECRUITS

GOOD OPENINGS IN' NEW ZEA-

LAND DIVISION

(8T TELEGRAPH.—PIUSS . ASSOCIATION.!

AUCKLAND, 31st January

A strong desire to help the Naval authorities in obtaining recruits for the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy was expressed in several remits adopted by the Navy League Conference. A suggestion from Canterbury, that the conference consider the best means by which the different branches throughout the Dominion could, when necessary, assist in recruiting, gave rise to considerable discussion. The question was further considered during the visit of delegates to H.M.S. Philomel in the afternoon, as the result or which the following resolution'was adopted: "The conference is much impressed with the valuable work" and results achieved in the training of boys, for'the New Zealand Division, and by the physical standard of the recruits in the course of instruction, and is unanimously of the opinion that larger publicity should b» given to the excellent vocations offered, and that the league branches should be authorised to assist as recruiting agents."'
