Mr. E. Parker, of Australian Roads, Ltd., is at present in Wellington, and 13 considering submitting a tender from his company for the construction of the Hutt road. For twenty-five years Mr. Parker was with the big American roading firm' of Warren Bros., Boston, and has only recently commenced operations in Australia, though already the new firm's operations have mounted up to big figures, He considers that so solid and nrm is the foundation offered by the ilutt road that a lighter bitumen surfaco-? ■£" that specified by the Actingwty Engineer, and approved by the Hutt Road Board, would b e ample to support traffic likely to run over the road for many years.
