The Feilding Jockey Club's Spring Meeting opens to-morrow, and will be concluded,on Friday.
Erie's name should be included in the Waituna' Hurdles field. Bonibrook has only been penalised 61b 'for the Ashhurst win,: and whatever beats him should score. .
Runners in the Aorangi Trial Plate all have to carry 8.0. Backers will probably go for All Gold, who was handicapped to give Ihapotoa two stone in the Komni Hack Handicap at Pahiatua. Demand, who won on his last appearance at Otaki, may be the favourite for the St. Andrew's Handicap. He will be ridden by J. Barry, who is in good form at present.- Printemps and Muraahi may be the best of the top weights. The big field down to contest the Kowhai Hack. Handicap includes Tinohari, gecond to Soliform over the same distance at Trentham, and Kalakaua, second to Balasor at Eiccarton. The rider of Stream, second to Lucinette at Rkcarton, will claim apprentice allowance Alaric and M. Sl'Carten may be the popular pick for the' Flying. Handicap. It is not a good field, and Civilform may be the hardest Alaric will have to dis>PO66 Of. '
It is not expected the Feilding Stakes will bring-together a large field, but if lamatete and Thespian take patt a good contest will result. The three Absurds meet on level terms, and the writer expects Tamatete (Mi M'Garten) to do best.
In the Fitzroy Hack Handicap Hytinus has only 31b more than he won with at Ashhurst, and. may score again. Previous form points to Hallowroz in the Kiwitea Welter Handicap. Although raised 7lb for the Ashhurst win, Counter Attack may score again if in a galloping mood.
C. Butler will ride Stream and Jackaroo at Feilding to-morrow, L. G. Butler will, ride Printemps, and B. Brodie will have the mount on Rene Mavis.
A. Reed's mounts at Feilding to-mor-iow include Black Cruiser and Halgina. 0. Reed will be associated with Mr. W. R. Kemball's horses that run. Mountain Crag's name appears among the acceptances for Feilding. The writer understood Trainer J. Gibson to say that the horse's next appearance would be afc Woodville. He will be accompanied by Lady Kotiripo and Paula. Knocklyn, who won one race at Tjmaru and ran second in another, is a three-year-old- filly by Solferino—Belladonna, and is consequently full-sister of Jonquil. Knocklyn is' owned by her breeder! Mr. ,G. G. Holmes.
Alario wag accompanied to Feilding by Rosamond, who is engaged in the Aorangi Trial Plate. On her only previous start Rosamond ran unplaced in the Morton Memorial at. Waverley.
