King Alfonso, in a speech it the Vatican, promised the Pope the help of Spain in any new crusade against the unfaithful. He asked the Pope to admit Spanish noblemen to the Papal Noble Guard, and advocated an increase in the number of American cardinals.
The Pope expressed the hope that ho would be able to fulfil the King's wishes.
